Yuriy “Knight” Rudyi is a fan of football club “Karpaty” (Lviv) and handball club “Galichanka” (Lviv).
Yuri Nikolaevich Rudyi was born on May 9, 1998 in the city of Lviv. He went to the city school No. 68. From a young age he was drawn to knowledge, and most of all he sought to study history. He read stories about the heroes of the national liberation struggle of the Ukrainian people. Battles, castles and feats of extractors of past generations excited the imagination of a young guy, who already then had clearly formed patriotic views.
He was not far behind in sports, played football and tried himself in boxing and mixed martial arts. But since childhood, the main topic for discussion has been football. Relatives recall how Yura was still small, while on a summer vacation in the village, he and his friends wrote the newspaper “Sportivka”. They constantly ran to the mail for the newspaper and only there was talk about how the Carpathians played. Later, this fascination with the game of the green and white team led him to the fan sector.
As a loyal fan “Carpathians” tried to support the team under any conditions, and in the 2018/19 season he made the “Golden Season”. Participated in the creation of a large amount of graffiti on the walls of the city, including the drawing “Lviv Cup”, which was used as a promo for the cup match against “Volyn” in the season 2021/22. Initiated the creation of several graffiti for the Birthday of his hometown club and constantly worked to improve the quality of the drawings. Teammates remember their friend as the true soul of the company, both in the train car and in the stands during performances, or other football events. On trips with Yura, it was possible to discuss politics, nationalist-patriotic movements for hours. Yes, and so that no one wanted to go smoking.
In addition to football “Carpathians”, he actively cheered on the stands for the women's handball club “Galichanka”. Having first come to the team's match in 2013, I saw how selflessly the girls played against a principled rival from Uzhgorod, how they responded with patriotic slogans. After that, together with a few more people, they began to develop the sector in women's handball. They also went to support the team in other cities.
Like the vast majority of fans, in civilian life Yuri loved to travel. He took an active part in public life, was engaged in volunteer activities, helping orphans, as well as the military even before the start of a full-scale invasion. He participated in various actions, such as the rally of Russian artists in his hometown, the commemoration of Ukrainian heroes, street raids against pro-Russian and other dubious elements. He supported the Lviv Rifle Stand, where he actively practiced shooting.
When the enemy massively moved on our lands, Yuri could not stay away. With the first sirens, he explained to his parents that he had to go to defend Ukraine. Joining the 125th Troop Brigade and taking the nickname “Knight”, in April he got to the Kharkiv direction, and after a short vacation he fought in Bakhmut. In November 2022, he received a contusion, but in three days he again gathered back to his brothers. Yuri Rudyi died on January 26, 2023. Being wounded, he assisted his comrades in position and led the fight to the last breath.
