Taras “Sykhivskyi” Bereziuk is a fan of the football club “Karpaty” (Lviv), representative of the team “Pride”.
Taras Zenovievich Bereziuk was born on January 03, 1988 in the city of Lviv. He studied at the school No. 1 in Lviv, after which he received his higher education at Lviv National University named after him. Ivan Franko. As a teenager, he joined the fan movement of the Lviv “Carpathians”, and later joined the team “Pride”, which for a long time remained the leading football association of the West of the country. Relatives recall that Taras from an early age had a strong character, was not afraid to fight for Ukraine. I could never “give a back.” In whatever business he took on, he stood up to the end. He was smart, brave and a great fighter for justice and honesty. This is what he was most valued for by people.
Despite the fact that the Lviv resident chose teaching for himself as a matter of life, he never left his native football club. Being known on the podium as “Kotsyuba” and “Sykhivskyi”, he chose the latter as his main nickname, because he lived in the Lviv neighborhood of Sykhiv, which he loved very much. Later, the teammates will tell that as soon as he appeared, the sun seemed to shine. Relaxed stories about little-known pages of history, first of all - the liberation struggle, were immediately engraved in the memory of both the younger generation and fans of the old school. He took an active part in the Revolution of Dignity. With the beginning of the war in 2014, he was mobilized in the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade, served in the 2nd Self-Propelled Artillery Division, took part in the battles for Lyman, Lysychansk, Severodrnetsk and Luhansk.
In 2015, he was demobilized and returned to work. As a teacher of history and sociology, head of the economics and technology department at Lviv Professional College of Food and Processing Industry of the National University of Food Technology, he was respected among students and teaching staff. He could easily and clearly explain any topic. He instilled in students a sense of self-respect and taught them to be proud of their country. He dreamed of building a new, better Ukraine, where there would be no corruption, bribery, where everyone would feel protected by law. On February 24, when the great war began and there were already the first rocket arrivals in the Lviv region, he calmed frightened children. He was collected and concentrated himself.
On the same day, Sykhivsky went to his native village, said goodbye to his mother and went to the military registration office. As an educator, he had armor from conscription, but could not do otherwise. Taras's brother will tell journalists that he always told him that it would not be a pity to die for Ukraine. For the second time in his life, being at war with the Russian invaders, he joined the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Daniel.
Taras Bereziuk died on August 24, 2022 as a result of enemy rocket fire. On that tragic day, the brave Lviv citizen had the opportunity to go on his official business earlier (perhaps saving his life in this way), but did not want to leave his brothers, deciding to stay with them to the last. Along with them, the polygon. So, on the day of the biggest public holiday, the life of a bright representative of the patriotic elite of Ukraine, an educator and a fighter for the free future of our Motherland, ended.
