Ruslan “Oblomov” Kurulyak is a fan of football clubs “Dynamo” (Kyiv) and “Polissya” (Zhytomyr).

Ruslan Gennadievich Kurulyak was born on October 30, 1989 in the city of Zhytomyr. His school years were spent in the classes of the local lyceum No. 19. As a child, he was fond of football and athletics. From a young age, he had patriotic views and firm convictions, which he was willing to defend if necessary. In the mid-2000s, he actively participated in events organized by patriotic youth of Zhytomyr.

FROMFor 18 years Ruslan participated in the organization and holding of patriotic events in Zhytomyr. Together with like-minded people, they held marches in memory of Stepan Bandera, a march within the framework of the all-Ukrainian action “The Will of Pavlychenks!” and others.

Ruslan's fan life began in his hometown when he was 22 years old. In 2011-12, the Zhytomyr fan movement was at the stage of recovery from decline. The patriotic environment of the city insisted that the local authorities fully return the football club to life, after which active fans began to rally around the support of Polissya. He was a representative of the team “White ZT Family” since its foundation in 2013.

In those years, Zhytomyrans communicated with fans of the capital “Dynamo”, with whom they occasionally attended away matches. Therefore, when Ruslan later moved to Kiev - the issue with the choice of a football club was already resolved. While still living in Zhytomyr, he was friends with representatives of the Berserkers team, and at the beginning of 2014 the capital team invited Ruslan to their place. Together with the Berserkers, he went to training, attended away matches and the home stand after dividing the sectors into two blocks, and also helped develop the football team.

Friends remember Ruslan on trips to the cup game against Shakhtar in Poltava, when a joint march of fans of different clubs took place. No less memorable was the trip of the “leftists” to Kharkov, when there were clashes of fans in the city with pro-Russian separatists. There was a lot of fun that day, with nail shooting, skirmishing with fortifications and pyrotechnics.

Since the beginning of the revolutionary events of 2014, Ruslan, as an active participant in the fan movement and just a conscious citizen, took part in the confrontation with the then criminal authorities. He was the commander of the Right Sector in the Zhytomyr region, participated in the storming of the local regional state administration on February 19, 2014.

In April 2014, he volunteered to the front, defended the territorial integrity of Ukraine in the ranks of “Azov”. In the summer of the same year, their daughter Anastasia was born with their wife. Participated in battles in the East, during which he repeatedly got bruises. He later became an instructor and trained recruits. After the rotation, he returned to civilian life, worked in a security company. He lived and worked abroad for a while. At work, he met his future comrades from Belarus, with whom he would later defend Ukraine.

With the beginning of a full-scale invasion, Oblomov returned home to voluntarily take up arms. As part of the DFTG took part in the defense of the capital. Later, given the considerable experience of the war in the East, he went to the front positions. He joined the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and served in the Belarusian Volunteer Corps.

Ruslan Kurulyak died on January 24, 2023 in battle with the enemy in Novaya Kakhovka in Kherson region. While performing a combat mission in the enemy rear, the 33-year-old scout's life was cut short by a sniper's bullet. This was the first operation using boats when Ukrainian troops landed on an occupied and mined by the enemy.
