Rostyslav “Drohobych” Shyiko is a fan of the football club “Karpaty” (Lviv), one of the leaders and founders of the team “Banderstadt Ultras”.
Rostislav Orestovich Shyiko was born on July 23, 1989 in Lviv. He studied at the Lyceum of International Relations named after him. IN. Stusa. Since childhood, he was noted for intolerance to everything Russian. As a preschooler, he burned campaign posters and Communist Party campaigns, which he found in the entrances. He was involved in sports, in particular football and boxing. He graduated from Lviv Polytechnic National University.
At the age of 16, he first came to the fan sector of the stadium “Ukraine”. For him, it was the most significant event, which he remembered with such delight in his eyes that he could not describe in any words. Next - more than a hundred trips for the hometown club and the national team, numerous performances, banners, graffiti, stickers, promotion of T-shirts with the symbol “Carpathians”, fights with other fan movements, friends in every Ukrainian city, rebel songs in the sector and heart, where the phrase “Ukraine is above all “is not just a slogan, but the meaning of being.
Participant in the Orange Revolution, and later the Revolution of Dignity. Volunteer, and in 2015 a fighter of the regiment “Azov”, defending the integrity of the country during the ATO. He was a mortician. On July 23, on his birthday, he took an oath of loyalty to the people of Ukraine. And kept her... That Rostislav did not do for the sake of victory, it always seemed to him that this was not enough, not enough. Becoming a father in 2016 and having less time for activist causes, he successfully began to blog “Military History”. His knowledge of world and Ukrainian history was bottomless. He thoroughly studied the history of the Balkan wars, the Vietnam War and the participation of Ukrainians in it. He starred in a television program about military conflicts on channel 24.
Every year on Independence Day, he bought blue-yellow ribbons and, together with his little daughters, tied them on the graves of the Sichov Sagittarians, in the Janivsky cemetery. The memory and honor of the feats of past generations permeated his whole essence. With the beginning of a full-scale invasion, “Drohobych” immediately took up arms. He did not hesitate to go to the military enlistment office, but due to certain circumstances he was unable to go to the front, which greatly depressed him. For 5 months he obtained permission to go to the East of the country as part of his 103rd Troop Brigade.
Rostislav Shyiko died on October 15, 2022 defending the Luhansk region. His life, as well as that of another fan of the Lviv club, was cut short by the explosion of an anti-tank mine. The deceased Warrior had a wife and two young daughters. Relatives and relatives are sure that Rostislav would not be able to do otherwise and not defend his land. His inner world boiled like a volcano swallowed, giving him and those around him the inspiration to fight. Confirming these words, friends tirelessly carry green-and-white “roses” “Carpathians” to the grave of the faithful son of Ukraine, firmly etching what he was like.
