Roman Lutsyk is a fan of the football club “Karpaty” (Lviv), representative of the team “Galichany”.

Roman Alexandrovich Lutsyk was born on September 6, 1997 in the city of Berezne (Rivne region). At the age of seven, the family moved to Lviv. He studied at Lyceum No. 21 of Lviv, later entered the Technical and Economic College of Lviv Polytechnic National University, where he studied the specialty “construction and engineering”. Then he entered the separate structural unit of the “Kryvyi Rih Professional College of the National Aviation University”, where he acquired the profession of technician. From an early age, he was fond of martial arts and football. For 8 years he played in the children's and youth teams of the Lviv “Carpathians”.

Love for football led Roman to the fan sector of the “Carpathians” in 2012. He had several fights and a large number of outings behind him.

Roman's other hobbies were hiking and mountaineering. He wanted to connect his life with this area, so in 2018 he started working in the sports and tourist equipment store “Komanchero”. He also developed the sphere of tourism, rock climbing and mountaineering in Ukraine, creating author's hikes in the mountains and professional training. He conquered more than one peak, including: Ushba, Kazbek, Tetnold, Elbrus, Mont Blanc, climbing method. According to the memories of friends, Roman kindled the love of the mountains in many people and always burned with his business. Also loved cycling and skiing in freeride.

Together with his beloved Alina, they dreamed of family and children, loved to travel and had many plans for the future, including opening their own tourist shelter in the Carpathians. The bride recalls: - “The novel is unique. I could not even think that such a man existed: worthy, courageous, responsible, faithful, sincere, loving, fair, kind. He was never spoken of with a bad word. For us, there have never been problems that our mutual love could not solve. Therefore, probably, only death could separate us. But how much I love and respect Roman, as a person with pain in my heart, yet proud, I accept his choice and will carry the memory of this man to the end.”

In the first months after the start of a full-scale war, Roman was engaged in volunteer activities, raising funds for military needs. He collected about UAH 2 million, in parallel choosing a unit to join the ranks of which he himself would join. In May 2022, the then DFTG “Lubart” became a fighter, which later will become part of the 12th Brigade “Azov” of the NGU.

According to the memories of his brothers, in the unit Roman immediately showed himself as a soldier with knowledge of tactical medicine. Taught tacmed to my brothers. He performed combat missions in Donetsk (Serebryansk forestry, Toretsky direction), Kherson (fighting for Cossack Lager) and Zaporizhzhya regions.

Constantly taking care of improving skills, he participated in foreign and domestic training. In the summer of 2023, returning from training, he took part in the battles for the Cossack Lager (Kherson region), as well as carried out special reconnaissance on the islands and waterways in the mouth of the Dnieper.

Since the spring of 2024, already as part of the 12th Brigade “Azov”, Roman participated in the battles in the Serebryansk forestry in the Kreminsk direction. Despite the complexity of the situation, he was always ready to come to the rescue. Being in the rank of junior sergeant, he saved dozens of lives, hundreds more - passed on his knowledge and skills. Together with the brothers, they searched for the bodies of the fallen defenders in order to bring them home.

In early September, he moved to the Toretsky direction, where the enemy was actively conducting offensives. Roman Lutsyk died on September 12, 2024 near the village. New York (Donetsk region) during the evacuation of wounded soldiers. He was buried on the Field of Mars in Lviv.
