Pavel “Volat” Suslov is a fan of the football club “Dynamo” (Minsk), a representative of the team “Blue-White Will”.
Pavel Suslov was born on September 20, 1995 in Gomel (Belarus). He studied in schools No. 56 and 27 of his hometown, and after grade 11 he entered the military academy. But in six months he left because of the conflict, because he did not like to obey orders. He was engaged in karate, had many awards and victories in performances. From an early age, he was fond of studying history, especially the times of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
The Dynamo Minsk fan movement first attracted attention at the beginning of the last decade, when at a match for Dynamo-2 he was attacked by 5-7 Gomel fans to pick up a fan scarf. Then Paul firmly grasped the attribute and managed to fight back. The locals respected him for that act, and when they found out that he himself was from Gomel, they were very upset that they saw such a fighter. Later, Paul said that he chose the Dynamo fan movement because, in his opinion, it was more “right” than the movement of Gomel. Because of this, there was a hunt for him in the city, but Pavel did not care. Without hiding, he wore the white and blue colors of his favorite team. He was a true warrior already in those years, soon becoming one of the most prominent representatives of the most famous dynamic collective BWW.
In 2014-15, he served in the Belarusian army. He served in the reconnaissance company of the 3rd brigade of the Belarusian special forces. After completing the service, he lived a civilian life for a year, worked in the field of security.
In the fall of 2016, he arrived in Ukraine to help in the war with the occupiers in the East. He joined the 1st Separate Right Sector Assault Company, where he served under the command of the legendary “Da Vinci” and very quickly began performing combat missions. He first entered the battle in Pisky, later took part in the battles for Avdiyivka, in particular during the escalation of the conflict in 2017. During the service, the volunteer received the call sign “Volat”, which in Belarusian means hero.
In 2017, he signed a contract with the 14th OmbR of the Armed Forces, engaged in intelligence and sabotage activities in uncontrolled territories. He was a participant in hostilities in the Luhansk direction, in the area of the Svitlodar arc. Friends and relatives say that at different periods of life “Volat” was a real warrior. It didn't just happen with guns in hand. He was intelligent, and in the war he felt good, as in his own home. “Slaves work, dogs serve. And I'm waiting for war,” Paul said.
They say that no one is born for war. Despite this, the brothers in arms considered Paul to be such an exception, because he was from that rare breed of people who came to this world to fight the enemy with weapons in their hands. He considered military brotherhood to be the highest form of human interaction. He greatly respected the Chechens as warriors. At the front, even before 2022, he had the opportunity to meet with those who participated in the First Chechen War under the command of Dzhokhar Dudayev.
In the army, he met his future wife Olga, who served in the same brigade as a machine gunner. In the fall of 2020, the couple had a daughter Alice.
He was seriously injured in the summer of 2021 when debris hit his head and a section of his heart. He was in an artificial coma and was connected to a ventilator. Doctors performed several operations and removed a fragment from his head.
In early 2022, he took part in the formation of the regiment named after him. Kastusya Kalinovsky, as part of which he headed the reconnaissance part. Named after the national hero of Belarus, the regiment gathered Belarusians who stood up for the defense of Ukraine. According to friends, Volat never stayed away from the life problems of others, always tried to help and teach. After the Battle of Kiev, his company heads south, where heavy fighting continues. He hardly leaves the sector, personally leading intelligence groups that replace each other. Volat knew the rule well: the commander of the reconnaissance group never goes first on a task. And every time he deliberately violated it.
Pavel Suslov died on May 15, 2022 while performing a combat mission on the border of Kherson and Mykolaiv regions. With numerous injuries as a result of the explosion, they tried to take him to the hospital. His last words were: - “Where is my machine gun?”. Buried in the city of Novovolynsk (Volyn region). Awarded the medal of GUR MO “Ukraine - above all!” (posthumously). In honor of Paul, the battalion “Volat” was named as part of the regiment named after him. Kastusya Kalinovsky.
