Alexander “Grian” Gryanyk is a fan of the football club “Dynamo” (Kyiv), a representative of the movement “White Boys Club”.
Alexander Sergeevich Gryanyk was born on January 08, 1994 in Kyiv. He studied at the capital's school No. 298, after which he received his education at the Faculty of International Economics and Management of Vadim Getman Kyiv National Economic University, graduating in 2014. Thanks to his father, football appeared in the life of little Sasha at an early age. Sergey Alexandrovich sought to make his son a player on a more or less serious level, and every evening he took him after work to the dirt fields of the Obolon “Chayka”, where they ran until dark. The guy adored football and on vacation from the very morning disappeared on the playgrounds of his native area.
Alexander, while still a child, began to attend matches of the championship and European cups with the participation of Dynamo Kyiv. At the age of 13, he first found himself in the field sector, but not in the Dynamo. The father, who himself comes from Luhansk region, took his son to visit his grandmother, and on one of the days of vacation to Luhansk “Dnipro” came to Luhansk. The teenager persuaded his father to go to this game and even asked for the guest sector. Then he said that the Dnipro people thanked the little one who came to support their club in a Kiev T-shirt, even though he immediately admitted that he was visiting his grandmother, and from there to the stadium the distance is only 35 km. A little later it was time for independent trips and participation in the football life of the club. At home, the cap and bandages were quickly noticed, but being modest, Alexander did not tell any details.
When the Revolution of Dignity began, the Kievan became an active participant in it from the very beginning, was on the Maidan during all the main events of those days. He was especially affected by the news of the murder of the Belarusian Mikhail Zhiznevsky. With the beginning of the Russian aggression in the East, he repeatedly intended to go to the front, but was persuaded by family and friends to finish his training first. Relatives recall that the young man often scolded himself for not going to fight in 2014, along with many acquaintances from the fan environment. During the next two years, he underwent military training, and in 2016 he passed the KMB and joined the Azov regiment.
The next 6 years “Gryan” served in Urzuf near Mariupol. He was the senior machine gunner on the front line, but he told his family and friends very little. Sister Anastasia recalls that she did not know anything about the fact that her brother serves in “Azov” and no other details. According to her, he constantly reassured the family and did not want to be traumatized by details. She often told him that it was worth leaving the service and finding time to live for himself. And the plans for civilian life in Alexander were considerable. Terribly fond of mountains, he repeatedly went to the peaks in Ukraine and abroad. Once I even went to an acquaintance in Mexico, and there without knowing the language of the locals - hitchhiking in the jungle. Conquered a height of 5100 meters, reaching an active volcano. There he shot a video in the colors of the capital club. Dreamed of climbing Everest.
Alexander decided to quit Azov at the end of January 2022. Without renewing the contract, I went to the Carpathians for three weeks to think about the future. Having worked in the Azov press service, for which he shot photos and videos, had a lot of impressions and ideas, wanted to write a book. But the period of calm was short lived. On February 24, the Russians launched a full-scale invasion. Alexander, having any hesitation, collected his backpack and said goodbye to his parents, already knowing what exactly he would do. He tried to contact his former commander, but without receiving an answer he joined one of the capital's shopping malls, where at that time many people from fan sectors gathered. Prolonged defense of the capital, “Gryan” took part in heavy battles in Bucha, Irpen and Gostomel. He did not tell his sister and parents about the real state of affairs.
Participating in the repulse of the enemy offensive on the capital, he always sought to join his comrades in Mariupol. So when there was an opportunity to fly helicopters to the occupied city, one of the volunteers immediately responded. “Grian” flew one of the helicopters, which managed to get into the surrounded Mariupol. Breaking into the city, he almost immediately lost his best friend, and was soon wounded. Lacking medicine and clean water, the wounds began to rot, but the brave Warrior refused a possible evacuation, giving his chance for salvation to a civilian. Alexander Gryanyk last called the family on May 7, telling everyone that he loved. The next day, he died as a result of an enemy bomb hitting a bunker with the defenders of the city. There were 8 days left before the departure from Azovstal.
Alexander's parents learned about the death of their son the next day, seeing the posts on the pages of the brothers from “Azov”. During his lifetime, he inspired many people to become better and kinder, and continues to do so even now. In memory of his son, the relay for conquering mountain peaks was taken over by his father. He twice climbed the favorite peaks of the “Gryana” in Cyprus, and in the plans for the future - Hoverla, because his son was also there. Anastasia, in memory of her brother, wants to make a photo exhibition of his works in Kiev. The deceased defender of Ukraine will be reminded of his family by a souvenir ball on the occasion of Dynamo's victory of the championship title, for which Alexander once ran from the sector to the tracks of the capital's stadium a long time ago.
