Danylo “Vagrant” Kirichenko is a fan of the football club “Zarya” (Luhansk).
Danil Konstantinovich Kirichenko was born on October 20, 1996 in the city of Luhansk. After the 9th grade of school, he entered the college of the East Ukrainian National University named after him. Volodymyr Dahl and mastered the profession of IT engineer. Since childhood, his greatest passion and main hobby was football.
He got to the Zori fan stand at a very young age, starting with active support of the team at home matches and trips to neighboring cities of Donetsk region. To travel with fans - literally ran away from home. He took the matter seriously. With a warm smile, the teammates recall the funny story that when Daniel was accepted into the fan team, he came in a costume, as for a solemn event. He was indifferent to someone else's opinion. He did not shy away from himself, was open and had a good sense of humor.
Disagreeing with the formation of the so-called LPR at home, the 17-year-old joined the ranks of the volunteer battalion “Aidar” in 2014. Another year later, he became a fighter of a separate special purpose detachment of the NGU “Azov”, took part in the Shirokin operation, where he received shrapnel wounds in the thigh and face. Later, the brothers remembered Daniel at the time when he was the youngest and still inexperienced, but the first to rush into battle. The commanders were worried about him and did not want to take on the task.
The love for football, which the “Tramp” carried throughout his life, manifested itself during the service. He actively participated in Azov tournaments, mainly in the position of goalkeeper, and for his flexibility and jumping, his brothers jokingly called him a “cat keeper”. As much as possible, I tried not to miss a single match of the “Dawn”, and when they and his wife had a daughter, on the second day he watched the broadcast of the game in the hospital with the child in his arms.
He received a second injury during the fighting on the Svitlodar Arc, where he spent nine months in 2021-22. As a result of that enemy strike, he lost his best friend. During his service in Azov, he completed officer and sergeant courses. He studied at Donetsk National University and aimed to grow in service. I didn't see myself as anything other than the military. His wife recalls how he said that he found himself and his people in the Azov movement. And if such an opportunity was taken away from him, he would not know what to do.
A full-scale Russian invasion met the Vagabonds in Mariupol, where they lived with his wife and one-and-a-half-year-old daughter. Anticipating the beginning of the Great War, he organized the departure of the family to the Dnieper. During the first weeks of the war, he and his brethren traveled around the city and performed combat missions. When the defenders of Mariupol withdrew to “Azovstal”, he also left for the task, returning afterwards to the bunker. Danylo Kirichenko died on the night of April 14-15 as a result of an air bomb hitting the building, which collapsed the underground floors.
Awarded the Order “For Courage” III degree (posthumously).
