Vladimir “Knight” Osnovenko is a fan of the football club “Dynamo” (Kiev).

Vladimir Pavlovich Osnovenko was born on July 22, 1996 in the city of Kiev. In the large family of a priest and teacher, he was the eldest of six children. He studied in gymnasium No. 183, upon completion of which he entered the Kiev Higher Professional School of Railway Transport named after him. V.S.Kudryashova in the specialty “Locksmith for the repair of rolling stock, assistant to the driver of the electric train”.

Vladimir learned about the Dynamo Kyiv fan movement quite early, because his father Pavlo Osnovenko is a long-time member of the Ukrainian national liberation movement and the Ukrainian church liberation movement, Archpriest Pavlo Osnovenko, in addition to being a representative of the old school of fans of the capital club.

Even as a child, having begun to visit the fan sector with his father at Dynamo home and away matches, Vladimir soon became an active participant in it.

After his studies, he worked in the Municipal Enterprise “Kyiv Metro”, as an electrician locksmith at the Railway Car Repair Plant of the Metro. He also worked as a fitter of electric hoists for the Swiss company Schindler.

In September 2015, Vladimir and his wife Yana had a son, Svyatoslav.

In November 2021, on his own initiative, he studied at the sniper school “Wild Field”.

Vladimir was an Orthodox Christian, a Ukrainian nationalist, and therefore he was not afraid of the challenges of fate. He was morally ready for the start of a great war with the eternal enemy of the people of Ukraine, and from the first days of the large-scale invasion he joined the ranks of the 112th (now 241) brigade of the 130th battalion of the Troop forces, where he served as a sniper of the fire support company. The soldiers of this battalion were among the first to go to the East after the defense of the capital was completed.

Participated in the defense of the city. Kyiv, the liberation of the city. Irpin, protection m. Kharkov, liberated Kharkiv region, repeatedly performed combat missions in Bakhmut and in the Kupyansk direction.

In December 2023, he completed a training course in the specialty “Military piloting of FPV drones of small range of action”, where he was one of the best students.

Knight fought as a sniper and managed to eliminate more than a dozen enemies. According to the memories of his brothers, he was a worthy son of his parents: a true Ukrainian warrior, brought up in love with God, Ukraine and the Ukrainian nation.

Talented and creative personality, one of his main hobbies was playing the guitar. He wrote music and poems himself. Having gathered around him like-minded musicians, together with whom they created rock compositions, he dreamed of creating a “War Music Album”. He did not part with the guitar even in the war. In moments of calm and respite, he always played.

On one of the combat missions in the city. The Bakhmut group of fighters, which had been covered by snipers, was almost surrounded, and the commander of that group expressed the opinion that in order to stay alive, they would probably have to surrender to captivity. Vladimir said that he, as a sniper, will not surrender to captivity, and those who will surrender - he will “slap them in the back.” After these words, the commander and others changed their minds to surrender. With difficulty and with three wounded, they managed to get out. Thus, Knight saved the lives of the soldiers and motivated them to further fight, showing remarkable courage and personal courage in the struggle for freedom and independence of Ukraine.

Volodymyr Osnovenko died on March 1, 2024 while performing a combat mission in the area of the national park. Ivanovskoye near Bakhmut (Donetsk region).
