Victor “Stork” Petrov is a fan of the football club “Karpaty” (Lviv).

Viktor Olegovich Petrov was born on September 19, 1989 in the city of Lviv. He studied at school No. 13, a private gymnasium “Eureka”, later entered the Lyceum “Oriana”. He received his higher education at the Faculty of International Relations of Lviv National University named after him. Ivan Franko. He graduated from the military department of the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny with a specialty “reconnaissance”.

Relatives recall that football was in Victor's life since he was a child, he constantly played in the yard and in school teams. Grandfather was an ardent Dynamo fan, and the matches of the Ukrainian national team were watched by the whole family. And he was very erudite. Mom worked in the library for a long time, so Victor read a lot from an early age.

The fan sector of the Lviv “Carpathians” began to attend immediately after graduating from school and entering the university. He and his close friend Alexei supported the team at home and away matches. Especially memorable was the 2010/11 season, when Lviv played in the Europa League. In addition to the main team of his hometown, Victor was a fan of Liverpool, he was part of the community of fans of the English club, who watched matches together in Lviv pubs. And once received as a gift from a friend a ticket to a match in England.

From adolescence, he began to work. First in “McDonald's” and “Adidas”, then “Nestle” and “Softserve”. Being versatile, Victor constantly sought to improve, never standing in one place. He started his career at the Youth NGO “Institute of Public Initiatives”. He was also the editor of the Lviv edition “Sykhiv Media”, co-founder, producer and creative manager of “WHAT IF creative studio”.

In parallel with this, he paid great attention to sports and a healthy lifestyle. He was fond of rock climbing and snowboarding, went hiking, had a blue belt from jiu-jitsu and a black one with aikido, ran a marathon. He drove a rover for a long time, and only moved behind the wheel of the car when the transport was needed for work. Socio-social activities occupied an important place in his life. He was involved in charity, sorting garbage, and regularly donated blood to save sick children.

At the beginning of a full-scale war, Victor took up arms. Defended Ukraine in the 54th OmbR named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa in the eastern direction. In the army, he took the call sign “Stork”, reassured his relatives by saying that they always return home. During the service, he received the rank of lieutenant, served as a company commander, having more than 100 servicemen under his command.

As a company commander, he studied military extensively and considered it his “best project.” Viktor Petrov died on May 26, 2023 while performing a combat mission in the area of the town of Chasiv Yar near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. He was buried on the Mars Field of the Lychakiv Cemetery.

Awarded the Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky III degree (posthumously). On September 19, 2023, a memorial plaque was opened on the building of the Faculty of International Relations of LNU, where Viktor Petrov studied.
