Roman “Romeo” Tverdokhlib is a fan of the football club “Vorskla” (Poltava), a representative of the team “Poltava pride”.
Roman Sergeevich Tverdokhlib was born on February 7, 1988 in the city of Poltava. He studied at school No. 25, after which he continued his studies at vocational school No. 23. From the 9th grade of school, he began his sports path, attended the Thai boxing section, and in 2009, together with friends, began to engage in mixed martial arts under the guidance of coach Aziz. In 2011, he began to practice professional Brazilian jiu-jitsu under the guidance of Bogdan Viktorovich Furman.
During this period he took part in a large number of competitions of the all-Ukrainian level in free fait and jiu-jitsu. He was a multiple champion of Poltava and Kharkiv regions, as well as a medalist of all-Ukrainian competitions. In 2013 he had the title of “Candidate of Sports of Ukraine” in traditional jiu-jitsu and blue belt from Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Roman's fan journey began in 2008, when he joined the newly formed crew “Crew of Golden Eagle”. Supported the team in the home and away sectors, but a little later wanted more adrenaline. And already in 2009 he joined the hooligan firm “Alliance”. Having shown himself from the best side in fan fights, Roman and his friends created a new collective “Poltava pride”, which continued to be part of “C.O.G.E.”.
Then there were many good fights, one of which Roman's teammates especially remember. On that day “Poltava pride” fought against Sumy. Roman personally defeated three opponents, and the Poltava team almost ended the fight in their favor, until then Kharkiv fans came to the place, who arranged a pre-planned ambush. Despite the overwhelming strength of his opponents, Roman proudly accepted the challenge, and fought to the end. Despite the injuries of Poltava fans quite severe for such events, in two weeks Roman again stood up for his city, friends and team.
In 2013, Roman was invited to work at the new fitness club SpartakGym, and it was from that moment that his coaching activity began. He began training in crossfit and mixed martial arts. He persistently developed crossfit in his hometown and became one of the best coaches in Poltava.
At the end of 2013, revolutionary events took place in the country. Roman, together with friends from the fan movement, took part in the formation of the “Right Sector” cell in the eastern region, which included 4 regions. After the start of the war in the East, he realized that this war would never end. Prepared, went shooting, and practiced tactics of fighting in small groups.
On the first day of a full-scale war, Roman, together with his brother, came to the military enlistment office. He was resolute in his desire to defend the country. Having been diagnosed with epilepsy since school years, he invented a story so that he would still be enlisted in the army. He underwent a second examination, which did not reveal the disease. At first, he was accepted as an assistant grenadier rifleman of the 2nd detachment of the 3rd platoon of the guard company. In June transferred to the combined assault company “Odin”.
On April 16, 2023, Roman Tverdokhlib performed a combat mission in the area of Yampol in the Donetsk region. The 35-year-old defender's life was cut short by an enemy sniper's shot. He is buried in the Central Cemetery of his hometown.
- “We called you Roma Nitic then. I don't even remember why that is. We met at events, at a fan tournament, we had mutual friends, in general - we were our own. Seeing you in our unit was the norm. I remember how we talked about life after Bakhmut. Two hours. Then they did not negotiate. It seemed there was always time. And here, near the village of Yampil, I hear on the radio: “sniper... Romeo... 200". Eternal memory to you, friend,” recalls Roman one of his friends in the fan movement.
