
Nazar “Zarik” Savitsky is a fan of the football club “Metalurg” (Donetsk).
Nazar Alekseevich Savitsky was born on September 8, 1998 in the town of Mirnograd in the Donetsk region in a family of workers. In 2005, he went to the first grade of a local comprehensive school. In the same year, his parents divorce and the boy moves with his mother and little sister to the city of Selydove, where he studies and in 2016 he graduates from school No. 6.
From his youth he was fond of sports, in particular martial arts. From the elementary grades of school until 2014, he was engaged in koshi karate, has a green belt, and in 2013 he won 1st place at the championship of Ukraine. In addition to sports, he had a number of hobbies, including parkour, graffiti, numismatics and taking pictures with old film cameras.
Having started supporting Donetsk “Metalurg” since school years, he played for the team in the Higher League of Ukrainian football. A year after the Russian invasion of eastern Ukraine, the club ceased to exist.
Since the occupation of Donetsk and Luhansk regions by the Russians, Nazar strongly condemned the invaders. Relatives recall that at times it was very difficult for them to restrain a guy who wanted to leave everything and join volunteer formations to defend the Motherland. In 2020, he received a bachelor's degree in the educational program “Management of Foreign Economic Activity” at Zaporizhzhya National University. In the same year, he signed a contract with the 81st separate airmobile brigade, which is part of the Air Transport Service of Ukraine.
He was in the position of grenade launcher. In 2020-21, a member of the PLO in Donetsk region. He had thanks from the command for diligence, reasonable initiative and conscientious performance of his duties. In 2021, in the rank of senior soldier, he was awarded the badge “For exemplary service”. He read a lot, and according to the memories of loved ones, Nazar's favorite books were Sun-Tzu's treatise “The Art of War”, as well as Ukrainian military poetry “Stiletto and Stylus”.
Nazar met the beginning of a full-scale invasion in Zhytomyr, where he took a leadership course, but because of the beginning of the Great War he never received the title. After that, he spent another 10 days in the training center, as an instructor with combat experience he trained mobilized defenders. For some time he defended his native land in the Zaporizhzhya direction, and since June 2022, together with his brothers, they were relocated to the Lisichansk region.
According to the memories of loved ones, “Zarik” always believed in the victory of Ukraine over the Muscovites, even in the most difficult moments. On July 13, 2022, Nazar Savitsky died, receiving injuries incompatible with life as a result of shelling from the RSVP, during the execution of a combat mission near N.P. Civersk (Bakhmut district, Donetsk region).
