Igor “Koval” Markovkin is a fan of the football club “Dynamo” (Kyiv).
Igor Yuryevich Markovkin was born on March 2, 2003 in the city of Kiev. He studied at school number 226. As a child, he was fond of football and dreamed of playing for Dynamo.
From an early age, attending Dynamo matches at the stadium, one day Igor found himself in the fan sector. Especially he liked to attend away matches of his native club, for which he even skipped school.
According to the memories of his older brother, it was in the fan movement that Igor became fascinated by the national idea and became an active participant in public life. In the sector, he met his mentor - the famous representative of the metropolitan movement Maxim Yalovtsov, from whom he received inspiration for sports and a healthy image of life, and whom he considered his father more than his native. He also found loyal friends who became like his brothers.
He was engaged in MMA, represented at competitions the team “Bonus Team”, whose coach was Ivan “Bonus” Feseniuk, a representative of the fan team “Capitals” who died in the war. In 2021, he won the title of the champion of the Kiev region (ICO).
When the full-scale war began, Igor was only 18 years old. Despite his young age, together with other fans of the capital club, he joined the “Azov - Kyiv” TRO, on the basis of which the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade was later created.
Igor was a very ideological and motivated person. Very young, he tried with all his might to bring the victory of Ukraine closer. He was constantly studying, at the slightest opportunity he tried to go to the training ground. He told his brother that he considered it his duty to give his life as a stormtrooper.
Igor Markovkin died on August 30, 2023 in battle near Bakhmut (Donetsk region) as a result of a shell from an LNG shell hitting a trench. Awarded the Order “For Courage” III degree (posthumously). He was buried in the Forest Cemetery in Kiev.
Eternal glory to the Hero!
