Yevgeny “Plafon” Matkovsky is a fan of the football club “Crystal” (Kherson), a representative of the movement “Sector-23".

Evgeny Sergeevich Matkovsky was born on May 3, 1990 in the city of Kherson. He studied at school number 13. As a child, he was engaged in athletics, was a medalist of regional competitions and championships of Ukraine. I really wanted, we could say dreamed, to enter the Kherson School of Physical Culture and Sports, made a lot of efforts to realize it. After the 9th grade, he entered the school at the athletics department, and 2 years after his graduation he entered the Kherson Agrarian University. In addition to his main sporting hobby, he liked to go fishing with his father, this hobby remained with him until the beginning of a full-scale war.

According to the memories of his sister, Eugene from a young age was a devoted fan of “Crystal”. Often at their home, banners were drawn, which were then hung in the fan sector.

Teammates recall the history of the appearance of a fan nickname in 2009. At one of the stops on the way to the fan tournament to Zaporozhye, Yevgeny climbed onto a pole on the platform and began to shake it. At this time, the ceiling of the station lamp was torn off. fell from a 4-meter height, but did not break. Everything happened according to the fan style of those years, in a fun atmosphere, and after this trip Eugene began to be called “Plafon”.

Another famous fan story took place on the trip to Kakhovka. One of Yevhen's friends from the sector tells how even before the start of the match the problems were provoked by police officers, who were then led by one of those who previously opposed the Maidan participants. - “We burn 0:2 and penalties into our goal, score penalties, I drop my eyes in despair for 2 seconds and after the match I know how “Plafon” is already “flying” around the field, although he was just nearby and our sector was surrounded by cement. Then the football player hit Zhenya and the scuffle began. It was atmospheric - someone was driving men, someone was riding a bicycle.” Later, the Kherson movement decided to check this football player and it turned out that at one time he played in the DPR and spread anti-Ukrainian posts on the network. It turns out that thanks to Eugene they learned about this, the rape occurred and he was disqualified for life.

In 2012 he was a candidate for People's Deputies of Ukraine from the All-Ukrainian Association “Svoboda”. When the Revolution of Dignity began, Eugene could not stand aside from the events that were significant for the country. Together with friends from Lviv, he went to the capital Maidan. He also participated in the Kherson Maidan.

In 2015, he ran for the majority district No. 53 from “Svoboda” to the Kherson City Council of the 7th convocation and was elected on the lists. In June 2016, he became the general director of the football club “Crystal”, for which he has been a fan since childhood, but the following year the club withdrew from professional competitions and was subsequently reformatted into the Municipal Enterprise.

Having the status of a deputy of the city council, Yevhen worked on the creation of the “Municipal Football Club “Crystal” Kherson” together with the well-known civic activist in the city Ekaterina Gandzyuk, influenced the formation of the “majority” votes in the vote for the creation of the club. In 2021, he began working as a team director. At the same time, he did a lot to develop the fan movement “Sector-23". Also “Plafon” is one of the two fans of “Crystal”, who managed to make “Golden Season”.

Back in 2014, he married Irina, a Lviv woman, but in the fall of 2016 the couple divorced. In 2017, returning from training, he experienced an attack by unknown persons near his home, which was related to political activities. The next time Eugene ran for the city council in the fall of 2020, but was not elected.

With the outbreak of a full-scale war, Eugene found himself under occupation in his hometown. Not from the first attempt, but he was able to leave and joined the ranks of the 25th assault brigade, where he took the nickname “Deputy”. He served in the military unit A1126, took training courses in Estonia.

Whenever possible, he tried to communicate with his sister and calm her down, and contacted her for the last time on December 26, 2022 near np. Chervonopovka (Lugansk region), where the unit conducted offensive actions. The next day, Yevgeny Matkovsky disappeared and was considered so until October 2024, when the results of the DNA test were confirmed. He was buried at the Berkovetsky cemetery in Kiev.
