
Evgeny “Jackie Chan” Melnychuk is a representative of the old school of fans of the football club “Kryvbas” (Kryvyi Rih).
Evgeny Anatolyevich Melnychuk was born on December 1, 1985 in the city of Kryvyi Rih. He studied at school No. 115, entered the Polytechnic School of Kryvyi Rih National University (KNU), after which he studied and graduated from KNU. From a young age, he joined the Kryvbas fan movement in the zero and final days of the rise of football in Ukraine.
After graduating from the university, he worked for ten years at the southern mining and refining plant of the Kryvyi Rih Iron Ore Basin (South GZK). Friends recall that despite his large physique, he was very easy to communicate, girls always circled around him, and he was the soul of the company. Always active in support of the team, gladly rode outings and without delay went to defend the colors of the team in the fight.
After the Revolution of Dignity and the beginning of the Russian invasion in eastern Ukraine, the brave fan could not stand aside from the liberation war and went to defend the integrity of Ukraine. Then the phrase “Who, if not us?”, was gaining popularity. “Jackie Chan” decided everything for himself in the same way and was mobilized as a volunteer on June 4, 2014, becoming a fighter of the 42nd battalion of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of the Kirovograd region “Resistance Movement”.
Yevgeny Melnychuk died in battle with the enemy on August 28, 2014. On this day, a group of Ukrainian servicemen moved on a truck “Ural” and were ambushed by terrorists between Novokaterynivka and Leninsky (Donetsk region). As a result of the clash (gun battle), brothers Maxim Kharchenko, Vladimir Tatomir and 92nd OMB fighter Usenko V. The sergeant of the 42nd BTRO Yuriy Kyrienko was also involved.
For about a month, the fighters were presumed missing, and on September 25, 2014, the body of Eugene and his brothers was found by the search party “Mission “Evacuation-200" (“Black Tulip”). He was buried on December 11, 2014 in the city of Kryvyi Rih. On July 17, 2015 he was awarded the Order “For Courage” III degree (posthumously). On the house in which Eugene lived, a memorial plaque was installed in his honor.
