Yevgeny “Filya” Filev is a fan of the football club “Crystal” (Kherson), a representative of the team “Red Fox”.
Evgeny Sergeevich Filov was born on July 28, 2000 in the village of Velyka Lepetikha (Kherson region). He studied at school No. 2, after which he entered the Kherson State University at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports, where he chose the specialty “methodology of tourism and sports mass work”.
From an early age he was fond of hiking and participated in local and all Ukrainian tour meetings. He also participated in the climbing championship. He played table tennis very well - a hobby from childhood, whose skills he did not lose in adulthood.
In the 2019/20 season, he began to visit the fan sector of the Kherson “Crystal”. By that time, most of Eugene's friends were already in the team “Red Fox”, and he began to ride with them. Even in his youth, he joined the Kherson branch of the organization “National Corps”.
Eugene chose a specialty related to tourism not by chance, because from an early age he loved nature. It was a place of strength for him. He didn't just love hiking, he lived them. First he was a pet of the “Sports Tourism” circle, and later became its leader.
In civilian life, Eugene worked in the park “Kherson Fortress”, where he was the head of the amusement park. According to the memories of loved ones, he adored his work, and friends constantly visited him: they played tennis, went karting, an observation wheel and had fun.
Having met his beloved Catherine in his university years, Eugene became aware already during a full-scale war. Being at a distance most of the time, we dreamed of family and life in Odessa. We planned to have a dog, travel, conquer Hoverla.
- “Zhenya was life for me - real and super important. It had all the best qualities and even more, I have not met such people, and I never will, I am sure of that. He was always simple, sincere and infinitely kind. He loved life, nature, football, mountains and jokes,” recalls the words of his beloved Catherine.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Yevgeny was an infantryman in the 98th battalion of the Azov-Dnipro Troop. Together with teammates from Kherson and fans of Kryvbas, he performed tasks in Zaporizhia region.
Already as part of the 1st mechanized battalion of the 3rd OSHBR, he took part in the defense of Bakhmut, fierce battles in Klishchivka (Donetsk region), after which, together with friends, he transferred to a platoon of the PZRK.
In January 2023, Filya suffered a gunshot wound to his left shoulder, after treatment he returned to health. He was awarded the “Steel Cross” and “War Veteran” badges.
Relatives and friends recall Eugene's unbreakable optimism and jokes. He was always in good humor and supported his brothers and people close to him. Forbidden to even think about something bad.
- “On trips, I always repeated “Not today”, and to be honest, it reassured me, gave me hope that everything would be so, although I understood that it was a war, but was sure that nothing would happen to him,” his beloved shares memories.
Yevgeny Filov died on March 8 as a result of enemy shelling near the city. Avdiyivka (Donetsk region). Three other brothers died with him. He was buried in Odessa at the Western Cemetery. He was awarded the Order “For Courage” of the 3rd degree (posthumously).
