Denis “Grek” Zubriichuk is a fan of the football club “Dynamo” (Kyiv), a representative of the movement “White Boys Club”.
Denis Vasilyevich Zubriichuk was born on December 30, 1995 in the village of Mala Khaycha (Zhytomyr region). He studied at the Velikokhaichan Secondary School and College, after which he entered the State University of Economics and Technology of Transport. From an early age, he was bold and adventurous. Relatives remember how in the 4th grade with friends he pushed out of the garage and started his parents' car, went for a ride through the village. When his parents asked him where he learned to drive, he answered that he just saw his dad driving.
But his greatest passion was football. Parents recall that most of all the young man dreamed of becoming a football player. He played for local teams “Promin”, “Granit” and others. At the age of 10, Denis was offered to continue his studies at the sports school at Dynamo, but then his parents did not let his only son go to the capital.
The guy began to cheer for the capital club very early. As a child, he argued all the time with his grandfather, who all his life sympathized with Donetsk “Shakhtar”. That fascination with the game of dynamic stars turned out to be stronger than grandfather's attempts to convince his grandson. In 2011, Denis went to study in Kiev, where he later began to attend the fan stand of the “white-blue”.
He graduated from the university in 2017, but did not have time to work in his specialty, because in the same year he joined the ranks of the State Border Service of Ukraine. In 2017-18, Grek defended Ukraine in the Donbas as part of the border unit, after which he returned to the Zhytomyr border detachment. During the service, he did not forget about football. Played in the team of the border detachment and the city of Ovruch.
On the day of the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Denis, along with his brothers, were among the first to meet the enemy. The occupiers pushed on Kiev from the side of Belarus through the Vilcha checkpoint. The border guards blew up the bridge, which made it possible to gain time and protect Kiev from the North. After the capital was successfully defended, the “Greek” was voluntarily summoned to the unit, which was sent to the East. Brethren recall that he wanted to be where it was most needed.
As part of the Donetsk border detachment, he performed combat missions in the Soledar industrial zone, where enemy positions were sometimes only hundreds of meters away. Denis Zubriichuk died on January 9, 2023. That morning, the occupiers attacked the defenders' positions using the same uniform and ribbons of the same color as our military. In the course of the battle, under dense enemy fire, the “Greek” was seriously wounded. The brothers managed to pull him out of position and begin the evacuation with an armored car, during which Denis died.
We said goodbye to the brave Warrior in his native village in Zhytomyr region.
