Andriy “Petrov” Garasim is a fan of the football club “Karpaty” (Lviv), a representative of the team “Brigade SND”.
Andrey Ivanovich Garasim was born on December 12, 2000 in the village of Ralivka (Lviv region). He studied at the city secondary school named after him. Ivan Franko, and in 2020 he graduated from Lviv Professional College of Construction, Architecture and Design. From childhood, he showed interest in sports such as football, volleyball and boxing.
Since adolescence, he was engaged in martial arts in the sports club “Odyssey MMA”. His skill and confidence allowed him to take pride of place in competitions, winning trophies and medals.
Without losing his love for football, in 2019 he joined the newly formed team “Brigade SND” at that time. A few weeks later, the first fight took place with the participation of Andriy, in which he made a significant contribution to the victory. After that, there were many outings and fights, in which Andriy took an active part and always covered the backs of his friends and teammates.
The most memorable “polyana” was the joint fight of the teams “Solyanka BS” (“Dynamo”) and “Brigade SND” against the guys from Kharkiv, where in the 7-minute fight Andriy showed character and thirst for victory. Despite the injuries he received, he succumbed and continued the fight, shooting his opponents.
In the future, Andrei together with the same guys from “Solyanka BS” side by side defended their native land in one unit. This is how Andrei will remain for friends - brave and strong, and at the same time kind and fair, always ready to come to the rescue and not leave friends in trouble.
From the first days of the full-scale invasion, Andriy went to Kiev to join one of the Azov units. Participated in the defense of the capital.
After that, already as part of the 3rd separate assault brigade “Petrov” defended the country in the Zaporizhzhya direction. In the winter, the defense of Bakhmut began, and in the spring Andriy was wounded twice. Without waiting for full rehabilitation, he hurried to return to his comrades at the front.
- “With a shield or on a shield,” Andrei often said. At the age of 22, he reached the position of junior sergeant of the assault platoon and, in parallel, commander of the assault group.
Teammates and brothers recall that Andrei was always the first, regardless of whether it was a sports competition, a fight in the forest or an assault. A brave warrior, strong, merciless to enemies, for his sake is ready to go to the end.
During his service, Andriy was awarded the Order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “Golden Cross” and the “Cross of the Brave” badge, as well as the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces “For the Vitation”. He studied in Germany.
The war was interesting to him. Andrei lived and fought like this: with interest in the new - war, shooting, repulsing enemy positions. He savored life to the fullest when it was actually on the verge of death.
The commander of the detachment - the commander of the 3rd assault detachment of the 1st assault platoon of the 3rd assault company of the 3rd OshBR Andriy Garasim died on August 19, 2023 in the vicinity of the city of Bakhmut. He was buried in his native village of Ralivka in Lviv region. He was awarded the Order “For Courage” of the 3rd degree (posthumously).
